Evolution - Meet Your Ancestors

online learning about fossils and evolution in virtual visit to school

Take a trip 2 Billion years back in time. Meet some amazing and extraordinary fossil creatures – some of whom were your ancestors - and discover the story of evolution through the science of palaeontology.

We take an imaginary trip to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and examine some of the fossils that are preserved in each rock layer that we pass - to tell the evolutionary story of life on Earth through its fossils. We will:

- Examine a variety of fossil types (bones, shells, teeth, insects, dinosaurs etc.)

- Notice changes through time in the types of organisms, and adaptive features.

- See the evidence for evolution, including some “half and half” animals (eg. the “dino-bird”, “leggy fish”, and “furry reptile”).

Ideal online learning for UKS2 Evolution topic, also suitable for KS3.  45 minutes. £85.  Plus £25 each additional class.

Dr Helen explains the complex subject of global warming and climate change via a few simple demonstrations, and helps pupils come up with ideas on how to do their bit for the planet.

See some examples of fossil fuels and learn how scientists discovered that they cause global warming. Play the Carbon Footprint Quiz and be amazed to discover how our everyday activities are changing the world's climate. Come up with some ideas on what we can all do to help.

Ends with a Q and A session.

Suitable online learning for KS2 / KS3.
